Although Hammers Frozen Custard and Subs was only created about 15 years ago, the ice cream shop itself was established over 50 years prior in 1966. The shop was originally named Johnson’s Soft Serve. Over the years the place has changed owners and names but Hammers Frozen Custard and Subs still serves the classic desserts such as Root Beer Floats, Malted Milkshakes, Sundaes, Banana Splits and Smoothies.
Hammers also has made to order burgers, all beef hot dogs, home made chili-cheese dogs, fresh cut fries, cheese steak subs and much more.

Some seniors will tell us they have been coming here since childhood.Many more say we have the best custard and ice cream they have ever tasted Still others say they like to support local and family owned operations.
